Delegate Body Meeting Updates

The Delegate Body met on August 30th, 2026 for it's monthly meeting on the last Sunday of every month.

  • Passed Resolutions

    • Resolution #32 (On the Principle of Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions and the Process for Implementation) establishes IJLB support for the principle of Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions and outlines the process the IJLB will use to develop a more detailed policy for implementing BDS in the future. Here, the process involves delegates reaching out to their chapters, committees reaching out to their members, and the Communications Committee initiating a statement writing process to generate and facilitate organization wide discussion on the question.

      • The most substantial friendly amendment opened the door to an array of Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions campaigns in other situations of Settler Colonialism or Genocide.

  • Other Actions

    • A proposal to direct the Workers Committee to adopt a policy in regards to the IJLB's relationship with Labor for Palestine was withdrawn.

    • A "Rest Policy" from the Admin Committee was certified by the Delegate Body to disallow the International Standing Committees from having meetings on Shabbat and Yontifs to foster rest times from organizing. It recommends that chapters follow suit.

      • Delegates discussed how this policy addresses both organizing burnout and accessibility for our more religious members but there was disagreement to the extent that it was a solution to burnout in general.

  • Discussions

    • Drafting the Rulebook for the Delegate Body has been referred to the Internal Governance Working Group under the Admin Committee to present a draft to the Delegate Body. The Rulebook will create specific rules around how the Delegate Body operates.

    • Delegates discussed recent events regarding Code of Conduct violations and the need for formal procedures around exclusion from Standing Committees.

Standing Committee Updates

Please Note: Committees number their own policies in chronological order without reference to other Committee Policies. Thus, Admin's Policy #5 is Admin's 5th policy while Communication's Policy #3 is Communication's 3rd policy.

  • Admin

    • Passed Policy #5 (On Rest) that was certified by the Delegate Body that reads as follows:

      • "It is a principle of the IJLB that members shall have the right to rest (as defined by the individual member) from 20 minutes before sundown Friday to 20 minutes after sundown Saturday, local time. In addition, the practice of rest is encouraged from 20 minutes before sundown on the first day of a yom tov (lit., holy day understood in this context as holiday) to 20 minutes after sundown at the last day of a yom tov. Here, yom tov only applies to the holidays when members cannot use their phones. The Standing Committees of the IJLB shall not conduct any meetings during Shabbat or on a yom tov. We encourage locals to adopt similar policies for themselves that meet their local conditions."

    • The old Google Drive was deleted. The only shared drive for the IJLB is now on Proton.

    • Created a new Resolution template which is more aesthetic and that complies with international accessibility standard. It was employed for the first time for Resolution #32 discussed above. Be on the lookout for the other Resolutions to get a refresh.

    • Accepted the return of the Website Working Group from Khavershaft and elected A.F. as the new Website Coordinator.

    • Formed the Delegate List Management Working Group to ensure the Delegate List stays up-to-date more regularly as well as to test more functional re-designs.

    • The Email Management Working Group finished its work by producing a recommendation's table for different email services for internal use by the different Standing Committees and Local Chapters.

  • Communications

    • Created the Publishing Coordination Working Group.

    • Passed Policy #3 (On Submissions to the Communications Committee) to create a clearer process for submitting items to the Communications Committee. The policy reads as follows:

      • "The Communications Committee has created a Proton email address (ijlbcommscommittee@proton.me) that members can submit their requests to. Additionally, the Communications Committee will publish and distribute guidelines for submissions that abide by the following:

        • The subject line should state what the submission is for:

        • The body of the email should include:

          • Who worked on the submission (so they can be properly credited if they wish),

          • A draft of the submission,

            • IJLB Announcement Chat submissions should include the desired message text and/or image

            • Bund Bulletin submissions should include a draft text of the submissions and under which heading the submission should be included

            • Proposed External Communications should be either a draft of the proposed message or a proposal idea for drafting an external communication and both should be accompanied with a brief explainer of why the IJLB should make a statement on the topic

          • Relevant dates for making sure the submission is handled in a timely manner; and

            • This includes if the announcement should be recurring

        • There should be at least one person responsible for managing the ijlbcommscommittee@proton.me email and ensuring that requests are forwarded to the relevant people on the committee."

    • Created the Closed Social Media Working Group with Policy #4 (On Establishing a Closed Instagram Working Group) as directed by Section 8(b) of Resolution #31 (On Working Groups) along with an internal Voice Guide for posts.

    • Planned for the Statement around Resolution #32 (On the Principle of Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions and the Process for Implementation)

  • Education

    • No updates shared.

  • Khavershaft

    • Hosted a "no homework" reading club.

    • Beginning the process of drafting policies for mediation and conflict resolution processes.

  • Membership and Development

    • The second meeting since the adoption of Resolution 24 (Appointing Conveners) took place on August 23rd, 2026.

  • Workers

    • The first meeting since the adoption of Resolution 24 (Appointing Conveners) took place on August 16th, 2026. The meeting notes were submitted to the Delegate Body.


Standing Committee Meeting Schedule

  • Regular meeting times:

    • Admin meets every two weeks on Tuesdays at 5:30 PM EDT (9:30 PM UTC).

      • The next meeting is on 9/15.

      • The meeting after that is on 9/29.

    • Communications meets every two weeks on Mondays at 5:30 PM EDT (9:30 PM UTC).

      • The next meeting is on 9/14.

      • The meeting after that is on 9/28.

    • Workers meets roughly once a month.

      • The next meeting is on 9/16 at 1:00 PM EST (5:00 PM UTC).

      • The meeting after that is to be determined.

Interim Convener Applications

Eisenhardt has to step down from his roles as co-convener of the Admin Committee and of the Communications Committee at the end of the month. Thus, applications to serve a one-month term as an Interim Convener of either Admin or Comms are NOW open. The term is only one month because the entire slate of Standing Committee Convener roles will be open to the membership to apply for in October. If you're interested in serving as an Interim Convener of Admin or Comms, then please send an email to admin@jewishbund.org. The email should be clear about which position the applicant is applying for and share some information about the applicant's relevant experience and skills. The Delegate Body will select from among the applicant to fill the Interim Convener roles. This is a great opportunity to get some leadership experience, especially if you're interested in applying to be a convener in October.

Local Chapter Updates

  • Chicagoland

    • Attended Camp Doikayt's Backyard Havdalah Gathering and provided a donation to support next year's camp opening.

    • Held local uncontested elections, resulting in a fully staffed Organizing Committee, including 3 potential Alternate Delegates.

      • Congratulations to the new International Delegates (A.G., S.M., and A.L.) and Local Conveners (Z.K., K.K., and ZDS).

    • Hosted a follow up to the successful Park Picnic at Leone Beach near the most populous Jewish neighborhood in the city, resulting in our largest in-person event attendance to-date.

    • Formed two more committees with Kick Off Meetings scheduled in the coming weeks (Khavershaft & Workers).

  • DMV

    • No updates shared.

  • Montana

    • Fairly quiet due to summer being a time for seasonal work and travel out here but have at least one new potential member and things should pick up in September and October.

  • New England

    • Lots of recruitment lately, and internal/external activities like yiddish schmuz and yiddisher bikher bundele continue unabated; large structure defining meeting intended to be planned soon to bring NEB into compliance with Resolution #29 before conclusion of grace period.

  • New York

    • Hosted two Bund Picnics and discussed the internal structure NYC Chapter with a particular focus on setting up Working Groups to take ownership of new work areas.

  • Philadelphia

    • Hosted a workshop by Der Spekter editor Malka on pitching stories to the media. The workshop was very informative, and it was great to accommodate a traveling Bundist.

    • The Chapter's screening of The Dybbuk "had a great turn out, so much popcorn, and, despite some technical difficulties, watched a lovely Yiddish classic. Hopefully we can do more movie nights like this in future!" - from a member of the Philly Bund.

    • Added lots of people to their mailing list, and even some new members.

    • Planning for the Sept. 22 event commemorating the founding of the Bund has begun and hope to be able to carry out an event with some original cultural programming.

    • Planning a chapter meeting in October to clarify our chapter's democratic process, and to elect people to the Secretary, Treasurer, and Social Media roles.

  • GSB

    • No updates shared.

  • Poland

    • Became an official chapter!

    • Hosted Krakow pogrom commemoration (1945).

  • Vienna

    • Hosted their regular organizing meeting on Monday, August 31st after a two month break where they took stock, discussed upcoming event ideas for the autumn, and onboarded a new members.
