Passed Resolutions

• Resolution #29 (On Requirements for Locals):

  • Codifies a 'floor' of minimum requirements that Organizing Committees (OCs) and Local Chapters should meet.

    • For OCs, there are now requirements around attendance for Founding Meetings that enable an OC to found a chapter.

    • For chapters, the customary practices around maintaining an updated delegate list are now formalized, and a new practice of decertifying chapter delegate lists that aren't properly maintained or updated was introduced.

      • Here, the key thing is that each chapter must have at least three delegates and should have one alternate for every delegate on the delegate list that will be able to vote at the delegate body meeting.

      • There is a three month grace period before this requirement is enforced, and all new chapters have a three month grace period before this requirement applies to them.

    • For chapters, there are also new internal, democracy standards to ensure that IJLB members are able to fully participate in the decision making of their chapters.

  • Vote Tally:  Passed unanimously with 9 votes in favor after the friendly amendments were adopted.

• Resolution #30 (On Updating Resolution #27):

  • Fills gaps in how the Delegate Body can act from Resolution #27. This enables the Delegate Body to now do the following:

    • Create and update a rulebook that governs its own internal procedures,

    • Direct the Standing Committees to take actions within their authority, and

    • By taking actions enabled by Resolution such as making an appointment or renewing a term.

  • Also, enables Delegate Body conveners to be voting delegates.

  • Vote Tally: Passed unanimously with 8 votes in favor.

• Resolution #31 (On Working Groups):

  • Creates a default rule that Working Groups are open to all members of the IJLB.

  • Creates requirements that must be fulfilled for Standing Committees to create Closed Working Groups including having their members certified by the Delegate Body.

  • Vote Tally: Passed unanimously with 8 votes in favor.

Other Actions

• The Delegate Body adopted this proposal, as a directive to the Standing Committees, from the group planning "IJLB Holiday Celebundtions":

  • That all chapters of the IJLB are invited and encouraged to carry out local events on or around September 22nd, to commemorate the founding of the Bund on the day after Yom Kippur, in 1897.

  • That the Communications Committee, among other IJLB chapters and committees responsible for social media channels, will help to advertise the IJLB's commemoration of the day the Bund was founded, with reference to the actions going on in different cities around the world on September 22nd.

  • That other IJLB committees and working groups will be available to help the IJLB and our local chapters carry out events on September 22nd. For example, the Education Committee is planning to post something on its own Instagram about the founding of the Bund, along with the flier for the IJLB & local events for September 22nd. For some other examples, the Communications Committee, in addition to sharing with IJLB members about the IJLB and local events, could help write advertising copy or press releases about the local and international events; the Yiddish Working Group could help a local translate a song they are wanting to perform as a part of their event. All this will be based on what our locals are wanting to do for September 22nd and what help they may need.

• Admin meets every two weeks on Tuesdays at 5:30 PM EDT (9:30 PM UTC).

  • The next meeting is on 8/4.

• Communications meets every two weeks on Mondays at 5:30 PM EDT (9:30 PM UTC).

  • The next meeting is on 8/3.

• Education meets every two weeks on Wednesdays at 1:00 PM EDT (5:00 PM UTC).

  • The next meeting is on 8/12.

Chicagoland

• Attended Camp Doikayt Inaugural Fundraiser

• Grew membership to over 30 people

• Created an internal, chapter-level Admin Committee

• Continued to bring attention to and provide support to the IL Anti-BDS Repeal Law (HB 2723)

New England

• Appointed a new convener/delegate to put back up to three

• Malka from Der Spekter had a picnic and talked about media relations training

New York

• First monthly chapter meeting went well after switching from quarterly meetings

  • Polled and adopted specific campaigns/efforts to focus on

• Holding elections to fill their Coordinating Committee and to select alternate delegates in September

Philadelphia

• Had two picnics/meetings in the past two months that were very popular

  • Doing the stuff that they used to do at past meetings but in a more casual setting

• Malka from Der Spekter is visiting soon

• Plans for observing 9/22 as the founding of the Bund are underway

Vienna

• Elected a new convener

• Krakow has 12 members and Vienna is helping them get ready to become a chapter

• Lots of activity b/c of the Jewish culture festival and met with visitors who're a part of radical diasporist groups

• Planning on making some kind of SKIF group

GSB

• Had a happy hour with Der Spekter back in June at bar with a big pride party for local public defenders

• Giving a Jewish labor talk soon

• Organizing a high holidays event around Santa Cruz

Krakow (OC)

• Two members of the Melbourne Bund visited Krakow library

• Officially commemorating Krakow pogrom for 2nd year in a row
