Second PSC Election - Call for Nominations
New Website Coming Soon
History Working Group
Announcements
Dear Bundists,
In this week’s meeting, the Provisional Steering Committee discussed upcoming elections, progress on the International Jewish Labor Bund’s new website, and the development of a History Working Group!
The second PSC election, starting in early February, will elect four additional members to the PSC to aid in the process of building up the organization. If you want to run, please fill out the Candidate Intake Form. If you’d like to nominate somebody who’s running, you can do so on the Nomination Form. To run as a candidate in the next election, you must receive a minimum of 9 nominations from other Provisional Members including at least one from outside North America.
All forms should be submitted by 11:59 PM UTC-12 on Monday, January 12, so now’s a great time to start campaigning in what will be a Discord channel open to anyone with the Khaver role (stay tuned for updates!) or our Campaigning Bundists chat on Signal. While these are not the only places where discussion on the upcoming election will be allowed, they’re a good place to check for people interested in receiving nominations or those who have yet to decide who to nominate.
Please note that you must be a Provisional Member of the International Jewish Labor Bund in order to be nominated, nominate others, submit objections, or vote for the second PSC election. To be considered a member, you must have filled out the Intake Form and agreed to the Points of Unity and Code of Conduct included in that form. If you filled out the intake form before the Provisional Membership agreement was added, no worries! You can fill out the supplemental form here to avoid filling out the full Intake Form again. If any of you remember filling out a form months ago, the Intake Form linked above is not the same one; we no longer have access to that form or any data collected there. For more information, please check the previous Bulletin where we lay this out in more detail.
If you are still unsure which forms to fill out or the forms you’ve already filled, please reach out to psc@jewishbund.org and the PSC will reply ASAP. The PSC will also be sending out emails to those who have already been okayed as Provisional Members soon.
Once you’re an IJLB Provisional Member, you’ll also be able to serve as a Convener in a community (or two or three!) As outlined in Resolution 1, Part I, Section 2, the committees are the following:
Communications
Membership and Onboarding
Local Development
Mediation and Moderation
Administration
Ideology and Education
Election
If you don’t have experience in a given area, please volunteer anyway! The longevity of the IJLB requires not just those with applicable experience, but anyone who’s willing to learn or support others as they learn. As long as you have the capacity, commitment, and curiosity, you’re exactly the sort of person we need to lead our committees forward. You can fill out the Committee Interest Form here and follow the instructions to volunteer as a Convener.
And in incredibly exciting news, we are about to launch our international website. A GIANT thank you goes out to the volunteers who have been working hard on putting that together: please clap for [redacted] for their incredible work. Once it’s up, we’d love to know what you think so please email us with any comments or suggestions. And if you want to work on the website, please send an email to psc@jewishbund.org or contact [redacted].
Finally, before we get to announcements, we want to put a call out to the IJLB’s many, many history nerds. Based on some discussions with our khaveyrim on Discord, there’s a lot of interest in historical research and educational material. With that in mind, we’d like to invite anyone who’s interested in forming a History Working Group to reach out to the PSC with your ideas.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Jewish Diasporist - Grounding our Critique w/ Becca Explains the Occupation
Becca Strober joins Ben & Zach to speak about her educational organizing and activism as an American-Israeli, both online and on the ground. We speak about the Jerusalemite identity, diverse semantic labels, productive engagement with those who disagree with us, and a road forward for Israelis and the movement for Palestinian liberation.
Since it’s so close, we’ll give Cafe Bund’s New Year’s Eve/Chanuka/Zine Launch Party one last shout-out!
If you have a project you’d like to promote, a local win you’d like to celebrate, or a request or offer for mutual aid, please submit your announcement to the Provisional Steering Committee via our email and we’ll include it in the next Bulletin!
As always, you can find summaries of all our meetings here, and you can reach us for questions, feedback, or just to say hi at psc@jewishbund.org. Thank you!
