Bund Bulletin Volume 1 Issue 3

Dear Bundists,

We had an especially productive meeting this past Tuesday, so this Bulletin is going to be a lot more detailed than usual. We’ll try to structure things as clearly and succinctly as we can, but please don’t hesitate to reach out to psc@jewishbund.org if you have any questions.

This week, the Provisional Steering Committee (PSC) passed Resolution #7 to formalize a provisional path to membership within the IJLB and Resolution #8, officially approving a new sign-up sheet for the IJLB! You can find our new intake form here. Since we no longer have access to data from the sign-up sheet at derbund.org, we ask that everyone sign up via the new intake form so that we have an up-to-date record of everyone involved going forward.

As noted in both the resolution and the description at the top of the intake form, we will not share any information you submit without your knowledge or consent. Right now only the PSC has access to any information stored in the form’s backend, and any changes to that will be discussed publicly in coordination with relevant committees before being implemented.

Please share the form far and wide, especially with khaveyrim who aren’t currently plugged into what’s happening in the wider organization!

This Sunday, December 1 st at 1pm Pacific Standard Time, the Local Development Committee is holding its inaugural meeting to discuss the different forms local organizing has taken and begin a conversation on the relationship between local formations of the Bund and the IJLB. The meeting will be held on Zoom, and we ask that you review (Draft) Resolution #9 before attending.

Please note that the resolution mentioned above is only a proposal. Each of us on the PSC is involved in local Bundist organizing, so we understand how important it is that local autonomy be respected. Our intention is to work with locals to develop a process and structure that allows locals to connect with the IJLB so that the IJLB can better support the work being done on the ground.

If you have thoughts or concerns regarding our proposal, please come to the meeting with a proposal of your own! Out of respect for everyone’s time, we ask that any amendments, proposals, or discussion points be submitted in writing to psc@jewishbund.org ahead of the meeting. Minutes will be shared in the next Bulletin, and this meeting will only be the first in a series of discussions as the organization continues evolving.

In addition to the resolutions passed and proposed, the PSC has agreed to the following action items:

  • Organize Moderation & Mediation Committee meeting to discuss proposal and vote

  • Organize Ideology & Education Committee meeting

    • If you’d like to attend, please submit your availability here

  • Prepare for 12/1 Local Development Committee Meeting

    • This meeting is open to all khaveyrim interested in organizing at the local level.

    • The meeting will be held at 1pm Pacific Standard Time on Zoom

  • Reimburse people for prior financial assistance for digital infrastructure

  • Recruit new Election Tellers for second PSC election by 12 December
