Dear Bundists,

It has been a very busy week for the Bund! In true Spring fashion, lots of changes and renewals are underway.

To start, two new resolutions have been adopted. IJLB Resolution #17 (full text here) outlines the purpose and frequency of General Meetings. IJLB Resolution #18 (full text here) amends Resolution #14 (full text here), updating the quorum for Provisional Steering Committee meetings from 4/4 to 5/7.

The Provisional Steering Committee is setting standard dates for future General Meetings to allow for more of our khaveyrim to attend. The timing will be on a rotating schedule to allow members not located in the United States to attend at convenient times. To further support this, one of the PSC’s action items is to create a shared calendar for IJLB and committee meetings.

The Moderation and Mediation Committee is rescheduling their next committee meeting. Be on the lookout for an announcement regarding this in the next few days. [Redacted] kindly put together a report on the committee’s work thus far and its current status, so if you’re interested in joining please take some time to review it! Once you’re caught up, please fill out the committee interest form and join us on Discord.

The PSC is looking for feedback from Local Bunds, regardless of chapter status. To aid in this, we are in the process of preparing a list of questions regarding the current functions and future direction of the IJLB for Locals. Once the list of questions is finalized, copies will be distributed.

The PSC’s term ends in May, and ideally we’d like to hand the IJLB off to a delegate body that’s already set up and functional. Our goal is to reach a minimum of five official Chapters with elected delegates before we start that work, so please reach out to us if you and your local need any assistance navigating the 3-10- 3 process.

The website is getting a major revamp! The new-and-improved site will include, among other things, a resource tab for folks who are interested in learning more about the history of the Jewish Labor Bund.

We are setting up a Yiddish Working Group. If you’re interested in joining, you can find the link here or in our Signal Chat Directory. Topics will include the Yiddish language itself as well as different forms of communal, political, and mutual aid organizing that can be facilitated through the practice of Yiddishism. If you have another diasporic language you’d like to organize around, you are not only encouraged but invited to start a working group of your own! If you aren’t sure where to start or otherwise need support, please email psc@jewishbund.org and we’ll be happy to help however we can.

The IJLB is launching an Instagram account, and the Communications Committee will be managing social media for the Bund. More information to come, but if you’re “hip with the kids,” “know what’s groovy,” and are interested in helping out, please fill out the Committee Interest Form and join us on Discord.

If you have a project you’d like to promote, a local win you’d like to celebrate, or a request or offer for mutual aid, please submit your announcement to the Provisional Steering Committee via our email and we’ll include it in the next Bulletin!

As always, you can find summaries of all our meetings here, and you can reach us for questions, feedback, or just to say hi at psc@jewishbund.org. Thank you!
